4.6 million new young voters

http://www.musicforamerica.org/node/view/65790

So in my last post I said that 1.9 million more of us turned out this year than in 2000. It was based on an off-the-cuff analysis of some early data the news networks were throwing around.

Turns out it was wrong - 4.6 million more of us turned out to vote. We voted at 51% nation wide, and at an abso-fucking-lutley amazing 64.4% in swing states.

Most of you aren't happy out there right now, but don't get too down. We reversed a 3-decade trend in declining voter turnout. We spoke out. We broke for Kerry by 10 points (54 to 44%). This will be recognized.

All I can say right now, is don't drop out. Don't give up. We're in the game now, as Joe so eloquently puts it in his post below. There's a lot to do, and now we've got some of the influence to do it.

We're not going anywhere here at MfA, and we're going to need all of your help. In the next day or so we're going to have some polls/feedback forums up on the site. Stop by and tell us what you think MfA should do next. Tell us what was great about MfA - and tell us what wasn't so great. We're going to need your help to make MfA better than it was this year.

This is a long project and the past year was only the beginning.
